What's the purpose of the pre-tensioner?

The pre-tensioner is used to act as a connection point between the gearbox and shifter. It's useful if you need to change the shifter, change cable length, or internally cable route your gearbox.

How do I access my pre-tensioner?

To access your pre-tensioner, simply locate its position along the gearbox cable. It can be identified by its slightly larger diameter, usually covered in a protective heat-shrink.

Using a blade, carefully cut and remove the heat-shrink, revealing the pre-tensioner inside.
